That was the classic April Fool's joke when I was in elementary school.
Now that I'm older and not as sharp as I used to be, "Your slip is showing" takes on a whole new meaning. UGH!
Enjoy the day of gags and gotchas.
Meanwhile, back in the sewing room...
With the finished Rhino Block of the Spectacular Savanna Quilt by Elizabeth Hartman we're done with half the animals! WooHoo!
He was pretty simple. I feel like I'm getting the hang of the technique. My "stitch and flip" skill is definitely getting better.
The only tricky thing was lining up the piece with the point of the horn onto the base. Just make sure when you trim the horn block to leave 1/4" allowances on each side at the bottom. You may need to tweek the seam a little to get it to line up straight.
That will make more sense when you are working the pattern.Overall, I think he turned out awesome.
Look out Zebra, we're coming for you next!
Thanks again Elizabeth.
The Quilt Pattern Magazine
I have two new patterns in the April issue of The Quilt Pattern Magazine.
One is a 3 part mystery called Trellis. It sews up very pretty and it's not difficult at all.
I've worked it up in Spring and Autumn colors and both were lovely.
You can make it any size you like from table runner to King size. It just depends on how many blocks you want to make.
Sorry... no sneak peeks.🙈
The second is a picnic table topper called Condiments. I made mine in red, yellow and green to call to mind ketchup, mustard and pickles. (One pattern tester did hers in browns and called it S'mores. LOL! I love it! You can see that photo in the magazine as well.) The 4-patches are strip pieced so it comes together super fast. I think I made mine in a day.
Also, my Four Winds queen size quilt pattern is still available in the March issue of The Quilt Pattern Magazine . Each magazine issue is available for two months. When you subscribe, use the discount code for Seamless Piecing readers: SP.
The "Basket's and More Baskets" sew along at Pattern Pastiche has changed it's schedule. The blocks will now release WEEKLY! Hooray!
The release date for the second block is Friday, April 3.
Then they will drop every Friday after that with a scheduled completion in July.
If you want to sew at a more leisurely pace that's ok too. Just be sure to download the pattern installments weekly. Each will be available for 2 weeks.
It's not too late to join us in making this classic Queen size quilt. The first few blocks are available until May 1.
That's all I have this time. Keep yourself healthy during this crazy time.
Quilting may not be the cure for all ills but it can help you safely get through the pandemic.
Thanks for stopping by.
QUILT LONG AND PROSPER!
