As I surf around the net I read again and again that self-isolation is a dream come true for many quilters.
Being an empty nester myself I get a lot of self time but I still won't turn it down when offered.
Not so much for the Hub though. He wants to go visit grandkids. We compromised with a trip to the dog park today. It made the dogs happy too. We haven't been since Fall and they were busting at the seams to get to go run with other dogs.
I've finished my Giraffe for the Spectacular Savanna quilt by Elizabeth Hartman.
She was simple to sew with a lot fewer pieces than the Lion.
You may recall that I accidently cut out the lion from the fabric intended for the giraffe. So I had to cut around that issue but it was just fine.
I didn't find anything too tricky. Just follow the instructions.
Giraffes are a particularly favorite animal at our house so I was glad to skip ahead to make her.
April's block will be the Rhino. So get ready to toot your horn!
You know they say if you don't toot your own horn, someone will use it as a spittoon! Are you doing any other sew-alongs during your down-time?
Here's what I'm doing:
Are you sewing along with the FREE Baskets and More Baskets sew-along on Pattern Pastiche?
I'm using vintage fabric for my autumn baskets etc and jewel tone blenders for the "flowers".
You can't really tell onscreen, but my dark basket is a gorgeous dark aubergine.
Here's my first block:
I've also signed up for the Choose Joy Block of the Month at SewCanShe.com. It started this week but I'm waiting for fabric to arrive. Waiting is so hard!
Let me know in the comments what you are doing to pass time during the shut-down. Whatever you are up to, I hope it is keeping you safe and healthy.
Best to you all!
